Hallo allemaal!

Hoe gaat het met jullie? Hoe gaat het met jullie tassen?
Ik keek er naaruit jullie weer bij te praten. Jullie kunnen in deze nieuwsbrief inzichten verwachten over nieuwe materialen! Informatie over wat er na de zomer gaat gebeuren en wat inspiratie!

Inzichten – Duurzaamheid

Na te hebben geëxperimenteerd met Malai is er een nieuw biologisch afbreekbaar materiaal op mijn pad gekomen: COSM HyphaLite. Het materiaal is 100% biobased en biologisch afbreekbaar, het is een alternatief voor plastic-based materiaal. De eerste samples lijken veelbelovend! Ik verwacht het eerste prototype in het najaar!

Het is geweldig dat bedrijven mij de afgelopen maanden hebben gevonden met speciale revalue-aanvragen! Zo was het heel bijzonder om een ​​upcyclingworkshop te geven in het Kröller Müller museum voor een team van museumeducatiespecialisten. Ze maakten allemaal persoonlijke rolltop bags van banners.

Voor RedOnlineMarketing maakten we 80 tassen van hun verouderde banners. Zodat de banners volgend seizoen gebruikt kunnen worden op hun conferenties.
 
Momenteel werken we aan een groot wandkleed voor de Hogeschool Utrecht. Het is een groot upcycle project van 2,60 meter bij 2,60 meter. Met behulp van transparante stoffen creëren we een glas-in-lood effect met behulp van de Zuid-Koreaanse Pojagi techniek! Ik kan niet wachten om jullie op de socials te laten zien hoe het uitpakt! Deadline eind augustus.

Informatie – Samen is beter 

Na de zomer staan ​​er veel samenwerkingen op stapel!
Ik kijk ernaar uit om samen te werken met Anne Beekhof, een stagiaire van Cibap in Zwolle. Zij gaat zich richten op het maken van tassen en het creëren van digitale content.
 
Sophie Algra komt ook het team versterken! Als student Industrieel Ontwerpen in Delft heeft ze de vaardigheden om niet alleen tassen te maken, maar ook te helpen met het onderzoek en de productontwikkeling. Met een focus op composteerbare tassen. Ik kijk ernaar uit om dit onderzoek met haar voort te zetten!
 
Samen met Gijs Matser ontwikkel ik een dynamische tas. Een tas die groeit tijdens het gebruik. Met een mycelium basis en planten om het handvat en mandje te maken. Het mycelium groeit terwijl je dit leest. We hopen in september meer te laten zien!

Inspiratie – Op maat gemaakt

De laatste weken was het erg druk met op maat gemaakte projecten. Ik zou je graag inspireren door er één te delen.
 
Yvonne had een nieuwe tas nodig voor haar werk. Haar zoon Teun is erg vaardig en is van plan om Fashion te gaan studeren. Ze heeft één en één bij elkaar opgeteld en vroeg om een ​​nieuwe tas van Macnas EN Teun!

Het was een te gek proces van samen ontwerpen en maken. We probeerden veel persoonlijke details in de tas te stoppen, zoals een aangepaste voering die op Tencel is gedrukt. De basis voor de print op de voering was Je t'aime in het handschrift van Teun en zijn zus Vera. Ook hun eerste letters zijn in de tas gegraveerd. De tas is een heel bijzonder exemplaar geworden, met liefde gemaakt!

Insights – Sustainability 

After having experimented with Malai an new bio degradable material has crossed my path: COSM HyphaLite. The material is 100% biobased and biodegradable, it is an alternative to plastic-based material. The first samples seem promising! I expect the first prototype in the autumn!

It has been awesome that companies have found me the last couple of months with special revalue requests! For example it was very special to give a upcycling workshop at the Kröller Müller museum for a team of museum education specialists. They all created personal rolltop bags out of banners. 

For RedOnlineMarketing we created 80 totes out of their out of date banners. So the banners can be used at their conferences next season. 

Currently we are working on a big tapestry for the University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht. It is a big upcycle project of 2,60 meters by 2,60 meters. Using transparant fabrics to create a stained glass effect using the South Korean Pojagi technique! Can’t wait to show you on the socials how it turns out! Dealine end of august.

After the summer a lot of collaborations are coming up! 
I am looking forward to working together with Anne Beekhof, an intern from Cibap in Zwolle. She will focus on making bags and creating digital content. 

Sophie Algra will also be joining the team! As an Industrial Design student in Delft she has the skills to not only make but also help with the research and product development. With a focus on compostable bags. Looking forward to continuing this research with her!
 
With Gijs Matser I am developing a dynamic bag. A bag that grows while using it. With a mycelium base and plants to create the handle and basket. The mycelium is growing while you read this. We are hoping to show more in September!

Inspiration – Tailor made

The last weeks where very busy with tailor made projects. I would love to inspire you by sharing one of them. 
 
Yvonne needed a new bag for work. Her son Teun is very skilled and is planning on studying fashion. She put two and two together, and asked a new bag by Macnas AND Teun!

It was a joyful process of designing and making together. We tried to put many personal details in the bag, like custom lining printed on Tencel. The base for the print on the lining was Je t’aime in the handwriting of Teun and his sister Vera. Also there first letters are engraved in the bag. The bag turned out a very special one of a kind, made with love!
