My love for bags goes way back. They are our handy treasures, sometimes as valuable as the things they carry. They tell the world who we are.

Waste Less, Appreciate More

Studio Macnas' main goal is a more conscious way of consuming: waste less, appreciate more. What if you ran out of a bag? Really worn out? Then it would be nice if it disappeared without a trace into nature and even nourishes the soil.

A Journey Into Materials

I have been working on this fascinating journey into sustainability with Studio Macnas for more than three years. This adventure involves networking, testing with and for companies, and collaborating with innovative customers and students who are just as curious as I am. Most materials are so new that there is not much knowledge about them yet. 

So yes, I often bury materials myself to see if they decompose well in the ground. I am enthusiastic about exploring new sustainable options for making bags. I share the knowledge and inspiration I gain during this process with my audience through social media, as well as through lectures and workshops. This always provides new input for further research, and every new insight is a leap forward.
